PIEROGI WITH GRAŻYNA

On Preparation Day we met with
Elder Tribe and Elder Roberts and
their investigator Grazyna
at the church to make
RUSSIAN PIEROGI
Pierogi can be filled with just about anything -
meats, fruits, veggies but today we are
doing Russian Pierogi so it is potatoes and cheese.
The POTATOES needed to be peeled
and Grazyna and Elder Tribe were
very speedy with that as
Elder Roberts cheers them on!!
My lot fell to the ONIONS.
There were a few tears shed over this assignment
but it was finished in a short time.
Then I chopped the ham/bacon pieces for the topping.
Grazyna did the dough for the pockets and she
had it mixed so quickly we knew she had
done this many times before!
Contents of dough: flour (maka),
warm water (cieplo woda), salt (sol).
A glass is usually a good tool to use in making
CIRCLES of dough so the cutting begins.
Sister Sheets and Elder Tribe watch closely so
they can have a turn to cut.
No pictures of the filling:
mashed potatoes, sauted onions, twarog (similar to cottage cheese),
salt and pepper and other seasonings.
Then the STUFFING, FOLDING, CRIMPING begins.
The leftover dough is rolled again, cut and used.
Elder Tribe was quick to understand and do while
Elder Ball is filling his dough circle.
Working together for the very best pierogi!!
Pause for a smiling pose.
Sister Moon, Elder Ball, Elder Tribe, Grazyna,
Elder Roberts stopped by to see what was going on.
Then the COOKING
They are then gently dropped into boiling water,
softly stirred once so they don't stick together
then when they pop to the top they are done and
Elder Tribe was the "scooper outer"
The TOPPING.
Elder Tribe was also the scooper outer
of the ham/bacon fried in oil pieces.
They let me pose for a picture with the meat also.
SMACZNEGO!!
DELICIOUS!!

Elder Tribe, Elder Moon, Elder Marsing, Grazyna,
Sister Sheets, and Elder Roberts.
Elder Ball was out of the room for the picture.
