GRODZIEC CASTLE

This post should follow the next two posts as they were all
in the same day. But enjoy it this way.
As we driving towards the Grodziec Castle
we saw a big mound off in the distance.
If you look closely or click on the picture you will see
that there is something on the top.
We wound around and then couldn't see the big mound
and we wandered if it were the castle we
wanted or something else.

We finally found the castle gate at the top of a big mound.
Here is the gate to the castle grounds.
There was a forest all around the area.
Inside the gate we saw this large building with moss
covered roof near the castle.
The castle entrance. Notice the small door to the right.
It would be called in some areas, the needle's eye.
Here we are in the entrance doorway.
This is the inside of the small door.
Near the small door was this opening for the
possibility of shooting an enemy who may come
and want entry. Good positioning!!
Outside wall of the castle.
Near the entry showing the remainder of the moat
with moss on the water.
A sign for the tower.
Doorways.
Looking out over the countryside from the tower.
More of the countryside.

Into the courtyard from the tower.
Another tower from the top of the first one.
Not so sure that this is where he belongs!

A moment to rest by the canon and statues!

The wall around the castle.
This was a full fun day!!
