KRAKOW, KAZIMIERZ, PODGORZE

Monday was our PREPARATION DAY and

Tuesday was our 44th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and

Wednesday was ZONE CONFERENCE in Katowice

Monday after our study, laundry and preparations

we left about 11:00 to go to Krakow for two days.

It is a three hour drive to the EAST so we

after arricing at our hoetel we went to

KAZMIERZ the Jewish Old Town.

We met with an ENGLISH walking tour around the area.

Which was a good thing or we would not know about this

PUB on the corner of the MARKET SQUARE.

This is the SINGER pub. The tables in here are

sewing machine tables or cabinets and it is small

so there is no room for DANCING.

LATE in the night the table are all pushed together and

the CUSTOMERS dance on the table tops!

On the next corner is another interesting PUB --

there are several rooms in this one and to get

from one room to another you must go through a

WARDROBE like in the

"The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"

by CS Lewis. It goes without saying that you

never know what is on the other side of the

wardrobe until you go through the back wall.

The stand selling fruits and vegetables on the market square.

This huge buiding is in the center of the SQUARE

and in past time it was a slaughter house and

meat preparation house for KOSHER meats.

People could buy their meats here and they didn't

have to have their own kosher meat preparation area

at their homes.

On some days they can still buy meat here of different

kinds and it is also a "fast food" place for an open

faced sandwich type of dish.
