EASTER BASKETS

We live close to a church and we saw many people

walking to the church with their

Easter Baskets

on Saturday of Easter.

It was an "old, folks, young folks,
everybody come" time.

The baskets contained several things and were

being taken to church to be blessed and sprinkled with

holy water by the Priest.
It is a time to be blessed with prosperity for the coming year.

The bottom of the basket is usually lined with a
doily or small cloth and the contents are
usually covered with another doily or pretty cloth.
Often the egg in the basket is shared with another

person as well wishes are given for the coming year.
It is a good custom. I saw pictures in the paper
of many baskets sitting to be blessed in a laarge group
but some are done individually.
This is done in other countries also and not just in Poland.
