ZALIPIE AND A BARGE

Driving along we saw this
"loaded" wagon of hay.
It was being pulled by a tractor.

I liked this church with its white brink and simple lines.

As we headed to Zalipie south of the Castle the
gps (which has been know to take us in some
very interesting places) took us to the end of the road
to the River Wisla crossing with no bridge.
As we checked the map we saw that sure
enough the road ended at the river and was
again on the other side but no crossing.
We were taken right up to the river and....
there was the barge to drive onto.
The sign indicated that it held 3 cars so we drove ahead.
As we drove off on the other side we drove through water.
Interesting experience for us. It cost us 6 zl
Good we found Zalipie which is a small community
off the 'regular tourist trail'.
Many of the homes here are painted -
inside and outside with flowers and other
ornamentation. We drove through town and then
decided we'd better take pictures.
The first home we stopped to take a picture the
woman of the house waved us into her driveway
and then she invited us into her home!!!
We signer her guest registry and then was allowed
to look through her home. We saw the lower part and
I wondered if she rally lived upstairs and was
just allowede to paint the down.
Here she is in the kitchen.
She also had items to purchase with her painting.

This is the outside of her house.
The part above the staircase is painted and the part
below is broken dishes pushed into cement.
Even the out buildings in the back of the yard were
decorated with lovely flower paintings.
Zalipie fire station.
The cart in front is an old fire wagon.
A well and painted bucket at another place.
This is an inside picture of the home we went in.
The stove is on the left with pots on it and the
white furniture on the right is the refrigerator.
We also went in other rooms and they were
all painted similar to this!!
An out building in another area.
This woman had her items for sale in her yard
and a sign out for souvenirs.
And trees are not immune to the paint brush...
Align CenterLeaving town we passed this
wagon with friendly drivers.

A delightful and fun filled afternoon.
Then on to Kielce (and we had to use the barge again)
which was the real reason for the trip.
