GDANSK

All over Poland in the summer there are "beer gardens"
OR
covered places to eat along the streets. They are usually
associated with a restaurant nearby that can prepare
food to be served in the pretty area.
This is an especially lovely one in Gdansk.
Love the flowers!!

As we walked along the river going through Gdansk
called the Motlawa River we saw this ship called
THE BLACK PEARL.
Have you seen one of these recently
on Bear Lake or Lake Mead?
Dluga Street is the shopping center in Gdansk.
It is a lovely street filled with Beer Gardens,
shops with souveniers, food, clothes, etc.
There was a light rain fall when we were there.

Buildings on the island in the river still showing
war damage, we think.
This huge structure is the 'Gdansk Crane'.
It was built during the 15th Century and was the
largest crane in Medevial history.
This is world renowned and is known as
the Symbol of the city of Gdansk.

This is a view from the other side. The ropes and
turning spool was huge!! This crane was used to
take the loads from ships bringing goods from afar.
It was heavily damaged during 1945 but has
been restored and is the only one of its kind now.
Today it contains a museum.
At the end of the street.
A beautiful building!!
This is out of order but see it anyway.
'The Black Pearl" is unloading shoppers for the shops
in Gdansk and Amber Alley.
A lovely organ in a huge church.
At one time Leck Walesa had his office in
this building on Dluga Street.

Cases of amber jewelry on the street of Amber Alley.
Here you can see any kind and all kinds of Amber Jewelry.
If you don't see just what yo want or want a bigger selections
you can go into the shop behind t he showcase and find
many more choices.
Not many people were there in the rain.
A little later there were many more
and I understand that later there
will be so many people here it is
more difficult to see shop.

A huge church.
There were many to choose to see here.
We loved our stay in Gdansk.
