OUR FIRST YSA SOBOTA

Most of the YSA in our branch live long distances
from the church and so do not come very
frequently. We thought that once a month
we would have a Saturday (Sobota)
activity where they could join with the
other young people and enjoy the day together,
learn something, and increase their testimonies.
Our first one!!
Adam did the planning and we
mostly followed along....

President Pawlik, Katowice District President,
spoke and taught.

He brought his daughter with him. Good DAD time!!
They traveled about 5 hours to come for the day.
and stayed to speak in church the next day.

Andziej, Adam, Anna (Kasia's mother), Kasia
having a treat before the activity.

Sister Sheets was on hand to YODEL for us.
Another treat!!
Our YSA!
Andziej, Kasia, Adam
Ready to walk to the activity.
We walked to the National Museum

met our guide and a friend,

and went to the courtyard inside the museum.
Inside were many stone art pieces from the
11 to 16 centuries.
This is a stone baptismal basin from the
11th century.
Not by immersion.
One of the oldest pieces there of stone.

This is a painting of St. Anne
(the mother of Mary),
and Mary with the Baby Jesus.
Jesus is holding a ball type object wrapped
in a cloth. We were told that it contained
poppy seed laced with honey and was used as a
pacifier for up-set babies. They would suck on it and
would soon be calmed and resting.
The man with us said he remembers seeing
mothers using these during his lifetime also.
We say these nearly life-size statues of the
Savior with the cross.
The wiew across the river from the museum.
Beautiful.
My camera died so this is what you get to see today.
We also saw several churches and
got a lot of history of the area and enjoyed the time
together.
We returned to the church for a message from
President Cielenski and lunch with
nalesniki.
