KRAKOW RYNEK

We went to Krakow on the second Sunday in January
so Elder Moon could speak at the branch
there and do some business for the president.
Since Monday was our Preparation Day we
stayed over and viewed the sites there.
On Sunday afternoon after Church meetings
and training we walked to the
Rynek (Town Square or Market Square)
and looked around.
A view of the river Wisla that runs
through Krakow and
by Wawel Castle.
Wawel Castle from the edge of the river Wisla.
This castle and cathedral is a symbol of
national strength and patriotism to the Polish people.
The Nazi's army very close to flattening and
torally destrotig this great site during their retreat.
Elder and Sister Moon with a part of the castle
in the background. We plan to
go back later in the spring and tour the
Castle and grounds there.
Great historical place you may want to
read about online.
A beautiful tower on the rynek.
Very interesting history on this, also.
This center was originally designed in 1257 and
the layout has changed very little since then.
Here homages tyo the king were sworn
and public executions held.
Building or sales place on the rynek square.
This is called the Cloth Hall. It was built in the
1300's for people to sale their wares and today is
full of the same. It was destroyed in the 1500's but was
rebuilt and more changed made in the 1800's.
This is Glowny Square (head) and Elder Moon
was feeling alittle silly. After taking the picture I
noticed there was a child looking out the lower eye
(an interesting and popular spot for a picture!)
Here are carriages lined up for anyone who
would like or needs a ride!
I loved the different carriages and have
always wanted to ride in a fancy carriage like these
or the ones in SLC just like a princess.
Maybe someday..........
Here is St. Mary's Basilica. This is a beautiful
building and the next time we come we will go in!! Shops in the cloth hall. We just looked and bought nothing because
it was Sunday - but the looking was good!
I'd like to go back!!

In an open display this man was making
horseshoes and other metal trinkets.
We enjoyed our afternoon!!
And the time with the great people of the
Krakow Branch!
